We all have those things that we planned on doing someday but for some reason we keep putting it off. As the new year unfolds, it’s time to take control of your life. It’s time to stop saying ‘one day’, or ‘tomorrow’ or ‘soon’ and it’s time to start saying ‘today’. Here are 10 things that many of us need to start doing this year.

Start That Project

Whether you want to start writing a book, start your own business, or even create your first online store, today is the day to start.

Know Where You Stand

Do you still need to have that ‘talk’? Are you unsure of where you stand in someone’s life? Now is the time to have that difficult conversation, though it may seem easier to put it off, you can never truly move on if you do not know where you stand. Take a deep breathe, muster up the courage and get some clarity.

Quit One Bad Habit

You can stop smoking, drinking, or binging on junk food if you make that first step today. The time to change is now, not later.

Make Amends

We don’t know how much time we have here on Earth, so now is the time to accept an apology or to say sorry. Make peace with long-lost friends or estranged family members, don’t wait until it is too late.

Go On An Adventure

What are you waiting for? It’s time to go for a hike or even a run. Travel somewhere new, explore the world, don’t hang around waiting for friends to travel with you, take the plunge, go solo. Live.

Stop complaining and start saving. Take a long hard look at your expenses and see what unnecessary costs you have. Make every effort to manage your finances and to re-allocate your money to things that matter most.

Toxic thoughts cripple your mind. You tell yourself that you don’t deserve happiness, that you are not good enough. Acknowledge your toxic thoughts and listen to them carefully, then let them go. Remember, you do deserve happiness, and you are good enough.

Yoga, a morning workout, meditation… if you develop a daily practice (and stick to it) you will be more focused and energised.

Face it. Embrace it. This is the year to challenge your fear and put it to bed once and for all. If you have a phobia of snakes, heights or even public speaking, put yourself in an uncomfortable position and come face to face with what terrifies you. Science says that if you confront your fear enough, it will diminish.

Learn A New Language

Though English is widely spoken all over the world, you should make an effort to learn a new language. This will help you learn a new way of thinking and you are bound to reach a new level of understanding, as well as embrace new cultures and meet new people.
